Custom Floors, Stairs, and Railings in North Vancouver
This was a comprehensive project, involving new custom site finished solid oak hardwood flooring throughout the entire second level, refinishing existing hardwood throughout the main level, and refurbishing a large curved staircase. The staircase received the full treatment: shaker posts, white square spindles, white risers and stringers, and curved oak treads. The existing railing was sanded and refinished, with a few modifications. Curved nosings were installed on the second floor to complement the curved handrails.
The floors were sanded, filled and finished with a clear finish, no stain. The finish used was Loba Supra 2K Satin, which is a two component, water based finish. A hardener is added to the finish to give it superior durability and is rated for heavy commercial use. I normally recommend this finish for clients who have pets, children, or who plan on putting heavy wear and tear on their hardwood floors. This finish is a direct competitor to Bona Traffic HD. I can attest that 24 hours after putting this finish down, it is very difficult to scratch.
