Kerrisdale Hardwood Matching & Refinishing
A new client wanted to have hardwood installed adjacent to their existing hardwood. They had been advised that the new would not match the old, and their only option was to tear everything out and start over. I'm happy they discovered me before taking any action.
New solid, Select and Better grade oak was sourced out and installed next to the old oak floors. Flush mounted vents were also installed throughout, and the old rounded nosings were replace with thicker, square nosings, to really modernize things.
The old orange colour was completely sanded off the old floors. The new floors were also sanded. Finish samples were applied to ensure everything would match, as can be seen in the photos with the blue masking tape. Three coats of Loba water based finish were applied to both old and new hardwood (Loba EZ Prime + Loba EZ Finish, two coats).
The entire main level of this house now has perfectly matching hardwood flooring, and the owners are thrilled that they did not have to go through the expense of tearing out the old hardwood. They saved money. I made money. We all helped save a few trees from being needlessly cut down. It looks brand new.
