Kitsilano Oak Hardwood Floor Refinishing Project
This Kitsilano house had gone through numerous renovations, including a rental suite conversion. The floors definitely have character. They have been cut up, repaired, replaced, reconfigured. You name it, it’s been done to this floor! Still, it is a hardwood floor. It is beautiful. It needed some love. Both the owner and I agreed that the eclecticism of this floor is what gives it charm.
The floor needed a few large areas patched up with recycled oak flooring. The carpets were pulled up and we discovered some pet stains here and there. We gave it low odds of completely cleaning up. We went from completely worn out, abused and stained hardwood floors to clean and scratch free hardwood. I call that a win and the owner was ecstatic. Have a look at our “before and after” photos and see how an old, beat up hardwood floor can be revived with a little love and TLC.
My client wanted an extremely durable, yet fresh, clean and light finish. The finish used on this floor was Loba EZ Prime with two coats of Loba 2K Supra AT, which is a clear, water based, ceramic reinforced finish. This finish is one of the most durable hardwood floor finishes on the market, and well suited for commercial applications such as retail stores, restaurants, and rental apartments. It was ready for full use the day after final coat application.
